Dr. Jayanthi graduated from Universiti Malaya in 1993. She became a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG), UK in 2000 and subsequently a Fellow of the RCOG (FRCOG), UK in 2015. She has significant expertise in obstetric and gynaecologic procedures, having worked in both rural and urban healthcare settings in Malaysia, namely Hospital Taiping (1993-1994), Hospital Teluk Intan (1994-1995) and Hospital Sultanah Aminah Johor Bahru (1995-2003). She also completed a fellowship at the department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology (O&G) in National University Hospital, Singapore. Subsequently, she ventured into private healthcare, working at a private maternity centre in Johor Bahru from 2003 to 2015. She is also an academic staff at the Clinical School of Monash University Malaysia.
Having a keen interest in metabolic disorders relating to Obstetrics & Gynaecology, as well as the link between breast health and disorders of the ovaries, Dr. Jayanthi has undertaken several research initiatives, together with her colleagues and students. She is also interested in exploring infertility in those with obesity, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and metabolic syndromes, leading to her enthusiasm in IVF treatments.
